Lies in Disguise

My christmas wishes have definitely been answered, after quite a break Le Castle Vania finally has some new tracks. True to form the first sounds a bit like 'The Messiah', which I highly recommend you add to your collection if you haven't already.

His new collaboration, Lies in Disguise is just as good. And for you disco fiends Come Out should be impressive, if that float your boat.

A fusion for All

While stumbling around today across the blogs I came across a few dubstep tracks with some heavy reggae roots, who doesn't love that! First is a Rusko bomb that i never saw coming, the 2 others come from a fellow Californian 6blocc. Speaking of California I'm another 5 days away from sunny home and away from this dreadful cold. There's a chance of snow tonight?!? Not down. Anyways back to the music, 6blocc has been featured on Bassnectar's (who I'm seeing on friday) "Art of Revolution" and 6blocc also just released his album "Terminus" a purchase I highly recommend if these genre's appeal to you. Here's the tunes..

Soundguy Is My Target - Rusko ft. Lutan Fyah

6blocc - To The People (Ft. Pow Shadow)

6blocc - Rawer (Ft. Big Daddy Kane)

Gods Among Men

Crookers have always been a favorite of mine, I'm always impressed with how they reinvent their signature sound. Sure Day N' Night got out played more than you would believe, but their body of work definitely speaks for itself. Enjoy

I'm still itching for a longer version

Kid Sister

"I think a lot of people are going to be surprised with the fact that there's a bunch of raw hip-hop records on there," according to A-Trak. "It's not all up tempo clubby stuff. I think a lot of people are going to be impressed with her growth also because when she made a lot of the records that people have heard by now, she was just starting to rap." Kid Sister's new album Ultraviolet is about to drop and there has already been a lot of hype for a long time. DJs have been hitting up this album and creating some great remixes. I saw Kid Sister live about a week ago and despite the unenthusiastic crowd her performance was quite good. There were some problems with audibility at the beginning, but that was fixed. She wasn't as lively as I had wished, but I'll blame that on the crowd. Check her out if you haven't already and remember to get the new Kid Sister CD on November 17th.

Kid Sister - Right Hand Hi (Kill The Noise Remix)
Kid Sister - Right Hand Hi (Caspa Remix)
Kid Sister - Control
Kid Sister - Get Fresh
Kid Sister - Get Fresh (The Starters Remix)
Kid Sister - Pro Nails (Rusko Remix)

Spotlight: RaveArchive.com

I came across this website called Rave Archive. It has a massive amount of classic mix tapes by an array of DJs. The DJs range from Flex to DJ Dan to Andy C and more. Also this website includes a section for old magazines from as far back as 92'. There is a forum section too in which some very knowledgeable people post about pretty much everything related to "the scene." Includes a lot of UK material, but also a good amount of US stuff. Check it out and see if you like it.

Fuzzy Festival

In memory of how sick Fuzzy Festival was last year, some Stupid Fresh is in order. They have a distinct fidget sound that works in every song they come out with. If your going this year I would highly recommend hitting up Le Castle Vania. His tracks are amazing anytime but hes definitely a scene kid that can shred live.

ridiculously bueno

Dubstep

DZ has one of the most grimy sounds I've heard in a while. He has a sick spin on his remixes as well. If you live in texas hit him up in december, for everyone else sadly he's not playing any shows anytime soon.

My apologies!

I just found out that all my posts from the other day all went to the same link!! Unacceptable. I've fixed the links and encourage everyone to check them out again, especially those mixes!

David Guetta's live performance from Creamfields in Chile on 06-11-09. Crowd sounds phenomenal. Looking forward to seeing him live on the 21st at Meltdown Dallas.

David Guetta - Live at Creamfields Chile 06-11-09

All Things Grimey

In dedication to that wobble, I recently made a new dubstep compilation with some real filthy songs.

Here are the ones that stand out from the list.

Datsick vs Downlink - Fucking Money

L.A. Boxers - The Chamber   "It's Aliveeeee!" Props to Young Frankenstein sample

RUF - Want Some Crack (Original Mix)

Sublime - Doin Time (Zeds Dead Summer Grime Remix)

One More Thing!

OK I lied, two things.  Before I call it a night on this tear of posting I'd like to share two mixes that I've been bumping too nightly it seems, and for good reason.

First from my favorite blog for all things grimey, Squeegie Sounds, is a mix from resident DJ Brookah. In this "Bullet Tooth Tony" mix, gotta love anything with a Snatch reference, Brookah covers all the genre's from tech-house to some fantastic fidget and house.  Best 55 minuet's you'll be spending in bed, in the car, or at the party.

Brookha's "Bullet Tooth Tony" Mix

Next is a mix I found on hometown blog Gotta Dance Dirty, simply put this mix is insane, I put this on before taking a nap and had quite the intense dream that I was home raving it like I should be, its that good people! Pjanoo --> Calvin Harris --> Hey! --> Warp it Down, will leave you floored. So without furthur ado here it is.

FLASH RAVE!

Who knew Mizzou knew how to party? This past Wednesday Mizzou hosted their second flash rave in as many years. The concept was new to me, the music starts, people dance, and 30 min later its over. I'll be honest when I say I wasn't expecting much, I thought it would be a good opportunity to give the gloves a work out if nothing else, (pictured above) but DJ Z had other plans when he hit the turntables. Dropping Riverside, Moombah, Zombie Nation, Deadmau5's Moar Ghosts N' Whatever, and a lovely LMFAO remix of Boom Boom Pow I hadn't heard yet, it turned out to be an event that really made my week.

You can catch DJ Z's full mix played @ the Flash Rave here under "The Mixcast"

Something everyone should see

El Ten Eleven Live of course! The instrumental duo hailing from L.A. blessed Columbia with their presence this last Thursday and did not disappoint. Being a fan since their first self-titled album I was in disbelief when I found out they would be coming out here on their current U.S. tour.
Watching composer Kristian Dunn (the only word to describe his talent) own his instrument, a double neck guitar/bass, and Tim Fogarty smash the drums, or bass strings as seen in this picture, is something I will never forget. Their albums will have you jamming for hours, but too truly understand the depth of their skill you really have to see it done live.
Their current tour focuses on more of their new releases, with a much more electronic feel to it to which I had no complaints but was aching to hear some of the classics. The small albeit loud crowd @ Mojo's had them play 4 encores which included my personal favorites Lorge and My Only Swerving. It only added to the experience when I dove on top of Mr. Dunn's pick when he tossed, the greatest souvenir in my opinion. Check out these tracks, and check out the L-1011 myspace here to see if they'll be playing a show near you! You won't regret it.

Note: My lack of posting has been due mainly to an influx of school & the added timesink of FIFA '10 (one season already in the books in manager mode) but this trend shall not continue I assure you.

Its good, well deserved smokin music. So kick back, listen to some jams and light up a fattie. Have a a good weekend everyone, stay up and stay safe.

Lovefool//Barletta Edit

The Cardigans - Lovefool (Barletta Edit) *NEW*

Will Work for Hard Haunted Tickets?

Again hards halloween rave has one of the best line ups I've seen in awhile, and again its about $150 more that I can afford. If your still waiting for your rich uncle to die too, these tracks hopefully will help numb the void.

not your typical sound, but it definitely bumps

a little halloween spirit

With a Lil Bit of Gold..

And a pager! Most all of ya'll should know about this hip-hop duo that hails from Chi-town and big Detroit, but if you haven't The Cool Kids are aptly described by themselves as, "the new black version of the Beastie Boys". The Bake Sale cemented Mikey Rocks & Chuck Inglish as a group to watch for years to come. What separates these guys from the rest of the pack is their ability to preform & produce under any genre, as seen in their work with other artists such as Maroon 5 and one of my personal fav's The Bloody Beetroots. Even better yet The Cool Kids will be coming through Columbia on Nov, 6th with Kid Sister! Best $15 ticket in town if you ask me.

seriously, this track is awesome

Does that belt say Star Wars?

Fire + Gold = Canadian Genius

One of the first DJ's I discovered when I began blog hunting back @ The Docking Station, this phenom has been terrorizing the Toronto scene for years and has been churning out original mixes along with rediculous remix's at a frenzied pace. Check this guys myspace for a plethora of awesome music, his discography includes over 100 tracks! His popularity has been growing, so I hope you help in supporting the man so he can start some world-wide touring. I can't wait till he's in the U.S. I would pay a pretty penny to see him throw it down live. Check out this video for his new release Whisper along with some of my favorite tracks, Hump Day!

Feelin Indie

After a unprepared psych test and a night of academics @ Ellis Library I feel a lot like this egg. Not in the mood for anything too hardcore I'm really feelin my Heads Will Roll rmx's, La Roux, and Hot Chip atm (at the moment, excuse the WoW speak) either way its about time to call it a night, live & love life people, the week will be over soon enough.

I love Barletta, come to Cali please, best remix IMO

Hard to argue with this edit, top notch stuff

again with the jack beats, he's relentless

one of the first songs that had me hooked

Oh and I just started a Twitter, I knew it would happen eventually despite what I kept telling myself, check it out @TrevDuck. Follow or add me I need some more peeps thx.

Get Up and Jack It

We've already posted a nice selection of Jack Beats work here at the zou, but this Radio One mix found floating around several blogs contains a litany of the duo's upcoming bangers, including a fire Mars RMX that will be out soon, you can catch the preview @ their myspace here. On top of that they threw down a track I have been itching to hear in full, Lee Mortimer and Laidback Luke's "Blau"

While I was lucky enough to hear the team of Beni G of Mixologists & Plus One of Scratch tear up the underground @ Hard Summer I think they might have out done themselves at Hard NY, those videos just seem unreal. So without any further delay here is the Radio One mix along with rips of Blau & the Mars Rmx. Trip out on these this Tuesday.

Florence & The Machine - Drumming Song (Jack Beats Remix)

Noob &Brodinski - Peanuts Club (Beataucue Remix)

Passing By Behind Your Eyes

That's the title of the third release by the group hailing from Colorado, Pretty Lights! I had the pleasure of seeing these fine folks at EDC last year, as their name suggests the sights are as important as the sounds when they throw down. I'm a sucker for a well thought out light set to go along with the music and these guys certainly know how to make it mesh. Their sound is three parts jam band, a little STS9 feel, one part Glitch Mob with samples from the likes of Biggie and others. A perfect combination in this bloggers opinion. Hit up Pretty Lights Music for a free download of their entire collection. Below is a sample of the new CD and some older favorites, enjoy, happy monday, Namaste.

This is Dutch House!

Today we have a new sound growing vastly in popularity. Artists such as Afrojack, LBL, Alvaro, Rolvario, Sidney Sampson and many others have made this specific genre so pleasing that I can't get enough of it. Enjoy these 10 tracks, there will certainly be more dutch house to come.

Another Week, Another Post

I've been feelin a lot like this cat most of this weekend and due to this fact I haven't been around to post in a few days. So let's start off this week with a huge post chalk full of some jams guaranteed to get you out of bed and off to class or work or whatever it is you do to get through the week.

Fake Blood - Mars (Boy 8-Bit Cover)

Seeing as how I'm currently in class I won't take the time to give a description of every song, but once you download one I know you'll be forced to check out the rest, Have a swell week I promise more posts.

Hardstyle

I decided to do a post dedicated to hardstyle because that's what I have been listening to today.

You've Got Body, You've Got Style

It's another Tuesday, not shit to do, but I feel like dancing, so let's get wild. Lovin all the new content today here at the ZOU!

First saw this guy at Lovefest this past year before leaving for school, interesting western themed set but he worked it. This song definitely brought his set together.

Another Lovefest Dj This year Angello closed the night out with one of the greatest live sets I have ever seen.

This is how Steve Angello brought in Be at Lovefest, but you gotta have the original too so I threw em together.

Crookers song I found today, I can dig it.

Andy Samberg was my cousins roommate in college?? Legit song.

BONUS
New Deadmau5 "For Lack of a Better Name" now released!
I won't post any of the CD on here as an encouragement to you all to go out and purchase the full album, its well worth it.
But not to leave you empty handed here is a wicked remix of one of the new tracks by a Canadian favorite of mine Barletta!

Sad day

Even though hard summer was a major burn, I still have a sour taste in my mouth from missing Jack Beats. Especially considering he's not playing again in the US until at least mid December, may these tracks last you the long cold winter until then.

Had to add one more KareBear..

Security sucked, but the music bumped

The line at Nocturnal may have taken three years, but the music was definitely worth it.  Glitch mob killed it with their live set, and of course Laidback Luke tore it up. Dj Dan and Donald Glaude were ridiculous though, sick beats and way entertaining.  As always there was never a dull moment, enjoy

Essential Mix

An extra-special Paul van Dyk Essential Mix accompanied by a director's commentary version of the mix for your listening pleasure can now be found at Radio 1's website.

Paul Van Dyk - White Lies

Paul Van Dyk - White Lies (Martin Accorsi Remix)

Paul Van Dyk - Complicated (Tom Colontonio Remix)

Paul Van Dyk - Castaway (Jon O Bir Remix)

Would you like fries with that?

In light of my new employment at our Plaza 900 Dining Hall I thought it would be proper to lay some Benny on ya'll.

West Coast Shit

So this saturday was Nocturnal Festival, another Insomniac event back home in Cali. So while I was at a "Straight Out of Compton" Themed House Party playing Glitch Mob over youtube my friends were out at the NAS center hearing this shit live, along with the likes of other greats Rusko, LBL, Rank 1, Bart B More, and Foamo. So if you were there here are some songs I'm sure you heard, and if you wern't well at least you can plug into these tracks and imagine how awesome it must have been. Dueces...

oh fuck me.... If you've seen "Snatch" you'll appreciate this.

the type of wobble we've all come to expect from a Rusko Bomb

Can't Believe I still haven't seen this man live yet... If you were there I envy you.

Hard to top the original masterpiece of Diplo and LBL; yet this Foamo twist is probably my favorite remix to date.

I like the progression through this track.

Wish I could have given a lightshow to this at Noc....

California Love baby. West Coast Shit!

It's Monday, FML, prime time to start a blog

For our first post here at ZOU I figured I'd start with the artist/DJ/producer whatever you want to call him that got me started on this genre as a whole, and with the release of Deadmau5's new cd scheduled to be this week I've got some tracks new and old for our followers.... Enjoy.

New Mau5

Classic Remix, Love the Original

A Teaser and a Banger all at the same time, the Mau5 does it again, Bump this one wherever possible

My All Time Favorite, still get shivers from when ATB threw this down at EDC '09

What good music is supposed to do.... Take you away
